Melissa Scheetz didn't find photography, photography found her. To fill credits on her almost completed psychology degree, she enrolled in a six week dark room class and thus began her relationship with the art form. Scheetz quickly began working two jobs (one at a camera store and another waiting tables) in order to purchase her first camera, a Mamiya RB67. After a stint in London assisting various fashion photographers, Melissa settled down in NYC and began focusing her talents in the fashion mecca, eventually specializing in beauty and cosmetic still life. Her work has appeared in magazines such as Cosmopolitan, W, and Harper's Bazaar. She has also shot advertisements for L'oreal, Hamilton Watches, Q-tips and Go Smile. Her transition to the digital format has expanded her skill set and has made her an in-demand consultant for digital retouching and post production. In addition to shooting locally in NYC, Scheetz will spend fall 2010 in Paris working and shooting subjects for her forthcoming photo book 'The Other Woman'.
